Max von Essen
Max von Essen ( born January 11, 1974 in New York City, New York as Thomas von Essen II ) is an American musical actor and singer.
Life and work
Max von Essen was born as the youngest of four children in New York City. His father is Thomas von Essen, who was during the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 top fire department official from New York.
Von Essen attended the University of North Carolina and went to successful completion with Liza Minnelli on tour. He then toured as an ensemble member in West Side Story through Europe and eventually became a member of the U.S. National Tour, where he starred as " Mary Sunshine" in the musical Chicago. In 2000 he made his Broadway debut in Jesus Christ Superstar. From October 2002 until the end of January 2003, he played the young hero Alfred in Dance of the Vampires on the side of musical star Michael Crawford.
Currently, Max von Essen is to be seen on Broadway as Enjolras, the charismatic leader of the student revolt in Les Misérables. From 2009 he is in Xanadu based on the film of the same 1980 play.
