Maximilian Leidesdorf

Maximilian Leidesdorf (* June 27, 1816 in Vienna, † October 9, 1889 ) was an Austrian psychiatrist.

Maximilian Leidesdorf doctorate in 1845 in Bonn and worked as a hospital doctor in Moscow and in 1848 as head of a private mental hospital in St. Petersburg. Since 1872 Leidesdorf was the successor of Theodor Meynert primary physician of the asylum department of the General Hospital of Vienna. Since 1886 he was a member of the Supreme Health Council. His work focused on the area of the connection between physical illness and mental illness.

Leidesdorf is buried in the cemetery Döblinger (group A, number 19).

In 1894 in Vienna Dobling ( 19th district ) was named the Leidesdorfgasse after him.
