Maxine Audley

Maxine Audley ( born April 29, 1923 in London, England; † July 23, 1992 in Fulham, London) was a British actress.

Life

Audley received her education in Gloucester. She then studied drama at the Tamara Daykharhanova School in New York City and the London Mask Theatre School. Her acting debut was in 1940 with a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream. After the end of World War II, she went with a production of George Bernard Shaw's heroes with the Old Vic Company on tour. In 1948 she made ​​her debut in London's West End. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and toured in the early 1950s with roles in King Lear, Measure for Measure and Much Ado About Nothing by Germany. In 1961 she appeared with the Old Vic Company in King John, in the following year, she played with the RSC at the Edinburgh Festival. Later in her theater career, she also appeared in modern plays, including Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and The Milk Train Does not Stop Here Anymore.

Audley was married four times. From the third marriage with a daughter of Frederick Granville emerged. Until her death she was married to Scottish actor Leonard Maguire.
