May El-Khalil

May Faysal El -Khalil ( born December 20, 1957 in alayh ) is a Lebanese Sportfunktionärin.

May El -Khalil is a passionate athlete. In 2001, she was seriously injured when training by a car; she lay for days in a coma and it was unclear whether they could ever go back. During her recovery time in which she was operated more than 20 times, she had the idea to run a marathon in Beirut. As President of the Beirut Marathon Association, she organized the first race in 2003, which was attended by 6000 runners. In the ninth discharge in November 2011 30.000 runners were at the start. El -Khalil understands the Beirut Marathon as a "peace operation."

For their dedication May El -Khalil has received many awards, including In 2011 with the Laureus Sport for Good Award and the Power of Sport Award ( awarded by the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive ( AIPS ) ).
