Mayari is a city and municipality in the province of Holguin in Cuba.

The origin of the town dates back to 1757, when the first farms emerged in this field. In 1879, the city council seat of the municipios.

The Sierra Cristal National Park is located partially in the field of Municipalities Mayari and partly in neighboring Sagua de Tánamo. In addition, the municipality is bordered on the east by Frank País, on the south by the province of Santiago de Cuba and to the west by the municipality of Cueto. The northern boundary is the Bahía de Nipe.

The municipality of Mayari has a total population of 102 354 and an area of ​​1308.3 km ² ( census 2012). The population density is 78.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.

World's most famous sons of the municipios are the brothers Fidel and Raúl Castro, who came on the paternal farm in the village of Biran to the world.

The city's name is also the title theme of a famous song by Compay Segundo in 1940: " Voy para Mayari " ( " I am going to Mayari ").
