McNeil River
Brown Bear in the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary
It rises a glacier in the Aleutian Island chain, flows northeastward and flows into the McNeil Cove, a bay of the Cook Inlets.
The McNeil River lies entirely within the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, a National Natural Landmark as designated, surrounded by the Katmai National Park Reserve. The many low, shallow waterfalls of the river offer brown bears good salmon fishing opportunities.
Is named the river after Charlie McNeil, a farmer from the region.
