Mediengruppe Telekommander

The media Telekommander was founded in 2001 musical duo consisting of Florian Zwietnig and Gerald Mandl. Their music was a mix of electro punk, indie rock and hip -hop, often with socially critical lyrics. In February 2012, they played their farewell concert in Berlin.

Florian Zwietnig

Florian Zwietnig, born in 1974, was born in Munich, grew up in Germering near Munich and later studied psychology. In the early 1990s he played in the Germeringer avant-garde band project Paul with Peter Brugger of the rock band Sportfreunde Stiller. By the end of 2002, he worked as a concept developer and usability consultant in an Internet Agency. Musically, he is responsible for guitar and vocals of the duo.

Gerald Mandl

Gerald Mandl was born in Austria and grew up in Hallein in the province of Salzburg. After he had broken a communication and literature studies, he attended the course at the Electroacoustic Institute in Vienna. He plays bass guitar and sings.

History

Mandl and Zwietnig met in 1998 during a train journey from Berlin to Salzburg know and decided to make music together. For now, they spent some time together in Berlin, but in 2000 they again live in different cities, one in Vienna, the other in Berlin. Here are some work while studying for short films and video installations.

It first came up with the idea of " media Telekommander " to incorporate with the aim of a variety of artists, concepts and techniques. After the huge success of " women are better " they decided to produce more pieces and to realize the media group as a live band.
