Marco Aurélio Brito dos Prazeres (* December 15, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro), also known as Mehmet Aurelio is a former Turkish football player of Brazilian origin.

Career

In the club

In Rio de Janeiro Aurélio played for Bangu AC, at Flamengo Rio de Janeiro ( 1995-2000 ) and for Olaria AC ( 2001), before joining in the Turkish Süper Lig Trabzonspor 2001. While two compatriots, who had come with him, had to go quickly, Aurélio could convince the Turks: two seasons, he played in Trabzon, scored 15 goals in 64 matches. 2002/ 03 he won the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor.

For the 2003/04 season Aurélio moved to Fenerbahce. His first game for the new employer was a friendly match against SV Waldhof Mannheim on 16 July 2003, his first competitive match was on 10 August 2003, compared Istanbulspor. In his first season at Fenerbahçe he won in 2004 with the Istanbul club championship. In the National Team

In the Brazilian national team Aurélio was never used. In 2006 he took part in the Turkish citizenship and made his debut on 16 August 2006 in the match against Luxembourg in the Turkish national team. On 12 September 2007 he scored his first international goal against Hungary. He is the first non- Turkish origin national player and scorer of Turkey. In 2007 he was voted the best national team of Turkey. He also participated in the 2008 European football championships in Austria and Switzerland.
