Mehmet Emin Yurdakul

Mehmet Emin Yurdakul (* 1869 in İstanbul, † January 14, 1944 ) was a Turkish poet and one of the protagonists of the flow of the "National seal ".

Life

After his high school diploma Yurdakul worked from 1892 to 1907 in the Customs Administration ( Rüsumat evrak Müdürlüğü ). He was governor of the Hijaz in 1909, 1910 and 1911 in Sivas in Erzurum. Mehmet Emin Yurdakul was a deputy in the Ottoman Parliament for the province of Mosul. After the founding of the Republic in 1923 he was a deputy of the province Karahisar, later the provinces of Urfa and Istanbul.

Yurdakul published his first poem Cenge giderken ( " On the Way to War" ) 1897. His poems are marked by nationalism and simple language. In his poems processed the author worries people and social epic events. The texts often have a didactic language. Friedrich Schrader has been reported in the Vossische newspaper about the first public reading of the poem " Ai Türk, Ujan " ( On Turk, Awake! ) In Istanbul in 1915 ..

Yurdakul was to the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey, according to Mason.

Mehmet Emin Yurdakul is buried in the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery in İstanbul.
