Mehmet ÅžimÅŸek
Mehmet Şimşek (born 1967 in the village Kafro ( Arıca district Gercüş, Turkey ) is a Turkish politician of Kurdish origin. He's since May 1, 2009 in Finance II Erdoğan Cabinet.
In 1988 he began his studies in economics at the University of Ankara, 1990, a scholarship for a stay in England he was offered. Following his studies, he remained in England and graduated in 1993 a master's degree at the University of Exeter.
In the following years he worked for various companies such as UBS, German bank or most recently Merrill Lynch. In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was elected as a candidate of the ACP in the constituency of Gaziantep and the called according to the election of the Minister of State. He is responsible for the tax authorities and the Turkish Central Bank.
On January 8, 2010 Mehmet Şimşek married for the second time. His first wife was a U.S. citizen. His second wife Esra Kara is a Turkish architect.
Şimşek has both the Turkish and British citizenship.
