Melani Costa

Melanie Felicitas Costa Schmid ( born April 24, 1989 in Palma de Mallorca) is a Spanish freestyle swimmer, two-time Olympian and world champion in the 400 meters freestyle at the European Short Course World Championships in 2012.

Achievements

The Short Course European Championships 2010 in Eindhoven and 2011 in Stettin had the 180 cm and 69 kg, the Mallorcan already won two silver and two bronze medals in the individual disciplines between 200 and 800 meters freestyle. 2012 at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, she was in the final sprint, the long leading favorite Camille Muffat, the short course world champion in the 200 meters in 2010, behind and pointed Chloe Sutton ( USA, 4:01,20 ) and Lauren Boyle (New Zealand, 4:01, 24, ) with a time of 4:01,08 min. to the courts. Costas teammate Erika Villaécija was eighth.

At the Olympics in Beijing in 2008 Costa had about 200 m freestyle in 1:59,08 min. Space 18 occupied. 2012 in London, she missed twice just the finals over 200 and 400 meters and was ninth respectively.
