Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Akka

The archeparchy Akka (Latin: Archieparchia Ptolemaidensis Melchitarum ) is a Uniate with the Roman Catholic Church, Melkite archeparchy based in Haifa.

History

The archeparchy was built in 1759 out of territory of the archbishopric of Tyre. It goes back to an ancient bishopric in Akka from the third century.

Pope Paul VI. raised them with the Apostolic Constitution episcopalis synodus on 18 November 1964 on archeparchy.
