Mellat-Park

Mellat Park (Persian پارک ملت Park -e Mellat, such as public park ) is the name of large, usually central parks in various Iranian cities. The most famous is located in Tehran, other parks of this name are among other things in Mashhad, Ahwaz and Bushehr.

Mellat Park in Tehran

The Mellat Park in northern Tehran is the largest recreation area of the city. The park was designed in several phases on behalf of Schahbanu Farah Pahlavi. The opening as a park -e Schāhanschāhī after the first phase took place in 1967. The second phase, which was conducted by the British garden designer Posen, was completed in 1973. When planting, the emphasis was placed on trees and plants from all over Iran. Only 120 trees with different varieties of fruits are found in the park.

The park is located at the foot of the Alborz Mountains, south of Tehran's Enghelab exhibition center and the golf course. To the west it borders on the Parkway Chamran and Seoul - Street, on the east by the Valiasr Street. He is watered by the melting waters of the 4000 m high Totschāl.

The park offers a wide walking paths, boat rentals, roller skate paths, an aviary, snacks and cafes. A special attraction are a lake and water features.

In the park is the locomotive of the first railway line in the country, the Tehran - Abd -al- Azim railway landfilled. It was designed by the Belgian " Atelier de Tubize " built and sold in 1887 to Iran.

In 2000, the banks and the colors of the paths have changed. Across the lake, a bridge was built.
