Mellbystrand

Mellbystrand is situated at the mouth of the River Lagan coastal town in the Swedish province of Halland County. The place is located in the municipality of Laholm and the historical province of Halland.

Tourism

Mellbystrand since the 19th century, a popular resort on the west coast of Sweden as for foreigners. In 1927 built beach hotel restaurant ( Strandhotellet ) find, among other traditional events such as the crayfish party in July. In Mellbystrands area there were 2003/2004 approximately 2,900 holiday homes.

Special

Along with the neighboring Skummeslövsstrand Mellbystrand features the longest continuous stretch of sand beach in Sweden with 12 km length. The beach is divided into zones to restore once abandoned moorings better. There is a 300 m long section where dog owners may let their pets swim (otherwise forbidden ), and a nudist section in the northern part, near the Laganmündung. The beach beyond the Laganmündung is popular with kite surfers.
