Melozzo da Forlì

Melozzo da Forlì, also Michelozzo degli Ambrogi ( born June 8, 1438 Forli, † November 8, 1494 ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Melozzo came from an old established family in Forli. He was probably a pupil of Piero della Francesca. The relationship of their work goes from Melozzo's most famous image, Sixtus IV appoints Platina as Prefect of the Vatican Library, clearly (1477 ). Most of the other ascribed to him photos are only preserved in fragments. Melozzo was famous as one of the inventors of the art of extreme foreshortening, an achievement that the same is his contemporary Andrea Mantegna. He has in his 1472 painted in Rome " Ascension " unfolds particularly evident this technique.
