Melville Shavelson

Melville Shavelson ( born April 1, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York; † August 8, 2007 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Shavelson was 1969-1971, 1979-1981 and 1985-1987 president of the union of the authors in the film and television industry in the United States, the Writers Guild of America ( WGA).

Life and achievements

Melville Shavelson worked as a writer for the radio before it for five years head writer for Bob Hope and the Bob Hope show was in the early 1940s. In addition, he successfully wrote scenarios for Filmgags renowned star comedians like Bob Hope, Danny Kaye. In the 1950s, his directorial debut followed.
