Memel Medal

The medal commemorating the return of Memel country was founded on May 1, 1939 by Adolf Hitler by regulation. The medal was awarded to those who acquired the reunion of Memel with the German Reich special services.

Regulation

The decree of the Fuehrer and Chancellor of the foundation of the coin to commemorate the homecoming of Memel was worded as follows:

"On the visible expression of my appreciation and my gratitude for the contribution to the reunification of the Memel with the German Reich, I am making the medal commemorating the return of Memel. "

Proposals to the award of the medal was established by the Minister of the Interior ( Wilhelm Frick ), for members of the armed forces from the Chief of the High Command of the Wehrmacht ( Wilhelm Keitel ) and submitted for approval to Hitler by the Minister of State and Chief of the Presidential Chancellery ( Otto Meissner ).

Ceremony practice

Appearance, texture and carrying method

The medal is tinted dark bronze, and shows on its front two male figures with the flag of the Third Reich and the emblem.
