Memoriał Henryka Łasaka

The Henryk LASAK Memorial is the most prestigious one-day classic cycling race in Poland. It takes place every year in August (2002 exceptionally in September ) on the round courses to Sucha Beskidzka instead. The inauguration took place in 1999 and the first winner was Cezary Zamana.

It is one of the most difficult classic in Poland, with some slopes on each round. In the calendar of the European races (UCI Europe Tour ) of the International Cycling Union UCI it belongs to the category 1.1. (previously 1.5 in 1999, 1.4 in 2001 and 1.3 from 2002 onwards ).

The most wins in this race - namely three - won Cezary Zamana (1999, 2002-2003).

During the last edition of the Memorial ( on 13 August 2006) won after completion of the 194.6 km of the Czech Petr Bencik ( PSK Whirlpool ) against Marcin Sapa (Knauf team).

Henryk LASAK was the most famous coach in the history of the Polish cycling and founder of its strength. He made a lot of stars out, inter alia, Ryszard Szurkowski, Stanisław Szozda and Mieczysław Nowicki. He was born on January 5, 1973 in a car accident in Skomielna Biała at Rabka tragically.
