Mercator (crater)

Mercator is an impact crater in southwestern lunar front side between Mare Nubium and Palus Epidemiarum, immediately southeast of the crater Campanus and north of Capuanus. The rim is eroded and the inside flat.

The crater was officially named in 1935 by the IAU for the mapmaker and mathematician Gerhard Mercator.
