Meresankh I

Meresanch I. is the name of an ancient Egyptian queen of the 4th dynasty. It is not used contemporary, but appears only in later inscriptions. It is not clear, with whom she was romantically involved. Some Egyptologists hold king (Pharaoh) Huni ( end of the 3rd Dynasty ) for a potential husband.

Documents

Meresanchs name appears on a fragment of the Palermosteins, which was built in the 5th Dynasty. He finds himself on the 6th tab of year event windows, which were intended for the king (Pharaoh) Sneferu. Another Attribution comes from the ( now lost ) of the grave officials Peher - nefer, in which this titled as " Hauptgutsverwalter of Stiftungsguts the Meresanch ". A third mention of Meresanchs name is contained in a graffito from Meidum, in the 18th dynasty under King Thutmose III the. dated and calling for a prayer for victims Meresanch I. and Sneferu.

About the person

The family circumstances of Meresanch I. lie largely in the dark. The Palermostein says nothing about who was her husband, because only the mothers are called of listed ruler on it. Therefore, it can be assumed so far at least, that Meresanch I was the mother of Sneferu.

Her grave is unknown. Maybe it's to look for in a mastaba, which is located north of Sneferu Meidum pyramid.
