The Mergbach is approximately 10.9 km long left the source stream Gersprenz in the Odenwald in Hesse.

Name

The name Mergbach is already written on cards from 1895. After that, he was often referred to as Gersprenz why his source was also the name Gersprenz source. In 2013 it was renamed again in Mergbach source.

Course

The Mergbach springs north of lime rock Winterkasten. The combined Mergbach source (formerly Gersprenz source) is located on the eastern slope of the Neunkircher height in the vicinity of the Imperial Tower. The source area is surrounded by natural stones.

The Mergbach flows at Reichel Home Bockenrod together with the Osterbach to Gersprenz.
