Messon
Messon is a commune in the Aube department in the Champagne- Ardenne Région.
Geography
Messon is located approximately 13 kilometers west of Troyes in the south of Champagne.
History
The region has been inhabited since Celtic times, as evidenced by archaeological finds. In Roman times, was a road near the village. From the 10th to the 13th century belonged to the county of Champagne Messon and was a fief of Chennegy, which belonged to the bailiwick of Troyes. From the 13th century, the land belonged to the Counts of Messon, who built a church and a castle.
Population
The place had 2010 449 inhabitants. They call themselves Mesquins or Messoniers.
