Messum's

Messum 's is an art gallery in Cork Street, Mayfair, a London street with many art galleries.

The gallery was founded in 1963 by David Messum and specializes in British art from 1750 to the present. Priorities are the British Impressionists and the artists of the Newlyn and St. Ives painting schools. Among the artists whose works are exhibited in the gallery, William Bowyer, Peter Brown, Rose Hilton, Kurt Jackson, Edward Piper, John Piper and Jeremy Annear find.

To the gallery belongs Messum 's The Studio, the private residence of the gallery, which is accessible by appointment only for collectors. The studio is located on a garden grounds of " Lord 's Wood " in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire and is historically associated with a number of painters, sculptors and writers. The house was built in 1899 in the style of Arts and Crafts for the eccentric artist Mary Sargant Florence and subsequently housed during the summer members of the Bloomsbury Group, including Lytton Strachey, Maynard Keynes, Virginia Woolf, Ralph and Frances Partridge and Dora Carrington. From the historic landscape garden Messum has designed a private sculpture garden with exhibits of contemporary sculptors.
