Metro Valencia

Metro Valencia is the U-Bahn/Straßenbahn-Netz the Spanish city of Valencia. It originated in the late 1980s from a merger of various suburban lines (all opened at the turn of the century ) and the opening of a connecting tunnel route. The complete system is operated by the partly state-owned Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana ( FGV ).

Route network

History

Line 1 ( Llíria / Betera - Empalme - Torrent - Torrent Avinguda / Vilanova de Castelló)

The one was the first city to track in Valencia, the tunnel section was inaugurated on 8 October 1988.

The route can be divided into three parts:

  • Llíria / Betera - Empalme: intercity railway Related route with single track sections. The route Llíria - Empalme was until 1998 part of the now disappeared line 2
  • Empalme Torrent Avinguda: Metro in the dense clock, fully double-tracked
  • Torrent Vilanueva de Castellón: Single-track cross-country train

The tunnel from Torrent to Torrent Avinguda is the latest on the Metro, it was opened on 22 September 2004. It provides a direct connection to the center of the city.

In the city center, a clock up to 7.5 minutes down (10 minutes on weekends), on the outer branches an impure hour.

Line 3 ( Aeroport - Rafelbunyol )

The route to Rafelbunyol was until the opening of the first part of the second downtown tunnel 1995, an overland route, which at the present tram station Pont de Fusta (as well as all other routes to the north ) had its endpoint.

In 1995, the first part of the new downtown tunnel, Palmaret -Alameda, opened. Alameda lies in the former riverbed of the diverted in the sixties after a flood river Turia. It was performed four tracks and designed by the famous architect Santiago Calatrava.

On 16 May 1998, the distance to Avenida del Cid was extended while being here connected by a link before the station Xativa line 1. In this intermediate piece in 2005 the new station was opened in Bailen, which offers simple interchanges to Renfe station. Since 2007 the Line 3 connects the airport with the city center of Valencia. A simple ticket (zones ABCD) currently costs ( May 2013) € 3.90 at the ticket machines.

Line 4 ( Mas del Rosari / Ll Larga Terramelar / Feria Valencia -. Empalme - Dr. Lluch )

Line 4 is the only one that was realized as a tram and has no contact with a tunnel. It touches only matter the old suburban station Pont de Fusta, which was completely rebuilt.

The line opens up the north-east of the city and binds particularly to universities. Their eastern terminus is located on one of the beaches.

The branch of the Alameda Ayora with three stations was opened in 2003. The stations are kept very modern.

In the downtown area, there are two branches, each of which reinforce the line 1 and line 3. The latter combines - as the line 3 - the airport with the city center. It is planned to extend the features of line 5 from Aeroport to Riba- roja de Turia.

The stations are located at the central Xativa or Bailen Station, which also take the S-Bahn -like suburban trains.

For the America 's Cup, newly built - - At the other end of the line 5 a tram -like extension to the port was created. In the station Maritim Serreria is possible between the two types of trains to transfer.

Line 6 ( Tossal del Rei - Marítim Serrería )

Line 6 is the latest line of the Metro Valencia. The first part of this line was inaugurated on 27 September 2007. It connects the stadium of UD Levante with downtown, crosses the line 3 at the station Benimaclet, runs parallel to the line 4 to the universities over the sea and ends at the harbor. In May 2005, the range of Renfe Cercanías of Riba- Roja to Quart de Poblet was shut down over the airport Manises -Valencia to develop this light rail capable. For this purpose, from the station Quart de Poblet to the existing station Mislata - Almassil on the current line 3 ( later 5) a tunnel under the river Turia built. The tunnel was opened in 2006, the distance to Manises -Valencia airport has been in operation since 2007. Yet clear no opening date for the further route to Riba- Roja.

Tranvia de la Costa

Under this project name is the connection of the line 5 of Ayora with the tram line 4 (which may be renamed T1 ) to the east of the city. It includes an additional underground station ( J. Monsoriu ), the rest is made ​​very similar to tram. Opening was in 2007. Currently (summer 2007) Railway is running as a line 5 to the station Neptú, which is right on for the America 's Cup harbor built.

T2

Across the city, a new tram tunnel is being built in a north-south direction of the main business center of the city, the existing Metro lines 3/5 crosses in Xativa. Accidents

On 3 July 2006, a Metro train derailed on the line 1 due to excessive speed between stations Plaza de España and Joaquín Sorolla Jesús. In this case, 43 people died.

On the same line, an accident had happened on 9 September 2005, in which three trains were involved and 29 people were injured.
