METRORail

The Metrorail Houston, known for short as METRO, is according to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail system, the second in Texas. Public transport was opened on 1 January 2004 on an aboveground 12 km long line with 16 stops ( Red Line ). The end of 2013 a further extension of the line to 8.5 km was put into operation. Two other new lines are under construction and are expected to be taken during the year 2014.

Is operated by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County. The fleet consists of 18 low-floor trams, Siemens Avanto type.
