Mettin Copier

Mettin Copier ( born January 4, 1989 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch- Austrian football player. The former U -21 national team of Austria is currently in the American USL Professional Division at Dayton Dutch Lions FC under contract.

Club career

The son of a Dutchman and an Austrian began his career in the youth of the SV Siveo'60, a small club from the province of Utrecht. From Siveo he came then to the UPS Elinkwijk, a process known as talent factory for the club and Marco van Basten in the youth was active before he was discovered by scouts of AZ Alkmaar in 2007 and moved to the youth department.

In Alkmaar he developed in the A1 youth team of the club to a hopeful defensive talent and was soon due to his playing style compared with the former Alkmaar star Joris Mathijsen. From 2008 he ran on already for the second team of Alkmaar, before he received his first young professional contract in December of the same year under coach Louis van Gaal. As a result, he trained under Van Gaal and his successor Ronald Koeman in the pros, but came only with Jong- Alkmaar used. In the season 2009/10 he was accepted into the Champions League squad of his club, but remained without use. After the sacking of Koeman and the appointment of Dick Advocaat's head coach in December 2009, its potential for use deteriorated further. In the spring of 2010 he was subsequently awarded in the Dutch Eerste Divisie at strugglers Telstar.

When Telstar he met with Edward Metgod to the former assistant coach Van Gaal at AZ, where he received a permanent place right away. The end of February, however, was surprisingly sacked and replaced by the technical director Marcel Bout Medgot. Copier, up to that point in four games as a regular player in action, then came under new coach not a single minute of operation and more moved at the end of the season back to Alkmaar.

When AZ was told in a row that you would not renew his contract due to lack of breakthrough in professional business and gave him the release. In July 2010, he then received a professional training with the Dutch second division club RBC Roosendaal in which he was able to convince. Due to the ailing financial situation of RBC, but opted for a commitment from Niek Ripson, who agreed to an amateur contract.

As a result, he signed in August 2010 a contract with relegated straight after twenty years of second-tier FC Oss.

On 28 February 2011, he joined the newly founded American USL Professional Division, where he signed a three year contract with the Dayton Dutch Lions FC.

National

After he received the Austrian citizenship in 2007 because of the Styrian origin of his mother, he signaled the fall of 2008 trying to run up his readiness for Austria on an international level.

On 25 March 2009, he debuted then the 1:2 away win against Italy under coach Andreas Herzog in the Austrian U -21 national team. Six days later he came in the 1-2 home defeat against Switzerland for his second deployment when he came on in the game 46 minutes for Manuel Wallner.

Consequently, he stood up to August 2010 at the expanded group of U -21 national team, but without being used again. Most recently, he was 9 September 2009 at the game against Albania in the squad of Austria.
