Michael Cavanaugh (actor)

Michael Cavanaugh ( born November 21, 1942 in New York City ) is an American actor and singer.

Life

Cavanaugh grew up as the eldest of nine siblings in New York. After graduating from high school he joined for three years the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii.

Following his service in the military Cavanaugh gained his first acting experience in children's theater. He made his stage debut in the title role of a production of Winnie the Pooh. This was followed by roles in stage adaptations of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Merchant of Venice or Are You Now or Have You Ever Been. An accomplished singer Cavanaugh also took singing as a tenor roles in musicals such as Oh! Calcutta! on Broadway, Carousel and 110 in the Shade.

Since the mid- 1970s, Cavanaugh is also in demand as a film and television actor and appeared in numerous television series and films in main and supporting roles; often he portrays here policemen, government agents, strict military characters, lawyers, judges or businessmen.
