Michael Cecil, 8th Marquess of Exeter

William Michael Anthony Cecil, 8th Marquess of Exeter ( born September 1, 1935) is a British peer, businessman, lecturer and politician.

Life and career

Cecil was born on September 1, 1935, the son of William Cecil, 7th Marquess of Exeter, and his first wife Edith Lilian Csanády de Telegd († 1954). He attended Eton College.

Later he became a lecturer and businessman. He is the author of several books.

Cecil was active in the Emissaries of Divine Light Church and became its international leadership after the death of his father. He is currently Co - Director of the Ashland Institute in Ashland, Oregon, where he lives and works as a rancher was (as of 2003).

Cecil is one of the Hereditary Peerage Association currently not on.

Membership in the House of Lords

After the death of his father in January 1988, he inherited the title of Marquess of Exeter and the time associated seat in the House of Lords. There he sat as a cross Bencher. His seat, he took a first time on 26 April 1989. His inaugural address was delivered on 16 May 1990 on the subject of social and cultural cooperation in Europe.

His seat he lost by the House of Lords Act 1999. For one of the remaining seats he did not present himself.

He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers who stand for a by-election is available.

Family

Cecil married on May 3, 1967 Nancy Rose Meeker, daughter of Arthur Lloyd Meeke. They divorced in 1992. They have two children together. The daughter of Lady Angela Kathleen Cecil died in 2008. 's Son, Anthony John Cecil, Lord Burghley (* 1970) is Heir Presumptive.

On 24 February 1999 Cecil Barbara married Anne Coffman, daughter of Eugene Magat.
