Michael Conlan (boxer)

Michael Conlan (born 19 October 1991 in Belfast) is an Irish boxer. Conlan was medalist at the 2012 Olympics.

Career

His first international championship contested Conlan at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where he flyweight ( 52kg - ) in the first fight against Jason Moloney, Australia ( 10:10 ), retired. The following year he was first Irish champion, a title he successfully defended in 2012, and adopted as such participated in the European Championships, in which he in the quarterfinals to Vincenzo Picardi, Italy ( 26:20 ) failed. Also at the World Championships he reached after beating Alexander RiSCAN, Moldova ( 25:12 ), Olzhas Sattibayev, Kazakhstan ( 18:17 ), and Nordine Oubaali, France ( 20:17 ), the quarter-finals, which he against the eventual runners-up Andrew Selby, Wales ( 25:24 ), lost to 5th place but directly for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

At the Olympic Games Conlan reached after victories over Duke Micah, Ghana ( 19:8 ) and Nordine Oubaali, France ( 22:18 ) the semi-finals. In this he faced the Cuban Robeisy Ramirez, whom he defeated with 20:10 points and thus was eliminated with a bronze medal from the tournament.

In the 2012/2013 season of the World Series of Boxing Conlan rose twice for the U.S. knockouts in the ring, where he won a fight and the second against Andrew Selby lost.
