Michael Endres

Michael Endres (* 1961 in Sonthofen, Upper Allgäu) is a German pianist.

He studied with Klaus Shields and Karl -Hermann Mrongovius in Munich with Peter Feuchtwanger in London and Jacob Latins at the Juilliard School, New York, where he received a Master's Degree.

Its particular focus is placed on the compositions by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Ravel. But he is also dedicated to intensive works of lesser known and little mock composers such as Leopold Godowsky, Gabriel Fauré, Sir Arnold Bax and Eduard Tubin.

There are currently 28 available CD recordings, among other things, have been awarded major prizes such as the " Choc du musique " or the " Diapason d' Or". Among these are, among others, the complete recordings of the piano sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Carl Maria von Weber, Arnold Bax, as well as the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel and George Gershwin. He has performed at many major festivals and concerts around the world, such as at the Salzburg Festival, Wigmore Hall in London, Newport Festival, Vienna's Musikverein and Suntory Hall, Tokyo.

Endres was a professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne (1993-2004) and at the Hochschule für Musik " Hanns Eisler" in Berlin (2004-2009), since the fall of 2009 he is professor at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Michael Endres was also for many years vocal accompanist of baritone Hermann Prey.
