Michael Gottlieb Agnethler

Michael Gottlieb Agnethler (* July 19, 1719 in Sibiu, † June 15, 1752 in Helmstedt ) was a Transylvanian scientists and numismatists.

Life

Michael Gottlieb Agnethler, whose family was originally called Long, was born on June 19, 1719 in Sibiu as the son of the pastor and school principal Daniel Agnethler. From 1742, he studied at the University of Halle first theology, philosophy, mathematics, history and medicine from 1746. 1750 he received his doctorate of philosophy in the following year as a doctor of medicine. 1750 one took him to the Imperial Academy of Sciences. A short time later, he was appointed as professor of rhetoric and archeology at the University of Helmstedt. Agnethler died shortly after taking office on June 15, 1752 33 -year-old from tuberculosis, from which he suffered since childhood. He had also released the four headlines Systema Naturae, Fundamenta Botanica, Bibliotheca Botanica and Classes Plantarum by Carolus Linnaeus.
