Michael Hoenig

Biography

During his studies, sociology, theater studies and journalism in Berlin ( West), Michael Hoenig joined the avant-garde composer Thomas Kessler. In the years 1971-1974 he published as a member of the avant-garde rock group Agitation Free two LPs and performed live.

In 1975, Hoenig together with Klaus Schulze, the duo Timewind which, however, broke up again after a short time. A short time later, Michael Hoenig took the diseased Peter Baumann in the group Tangerine Dream for their tour of Australia.

In the years 1977 and 1978 he worked on his first solo album Departure from the Northern Wasteland, which was released in 1978. In the summer of 1980, Michael Hoenig moved to the U.S. and worked in the sequence shown at several film music projects. He was, inter alia, the musical director at the classic Godfrey Reggio Koyaanisqatsi and added the associated film music by Philip Glass. Published in 1987 Hoenig Album xcept One, which he mostly grossed on the Synclavier.

In the following years, Michael Hoenig focused on the creation of film and television soundtracks, including for films such as Death In case of contact, After Alice, Terminal Justice, The Amy Fisher Story, Deadly Encounter, The Blob or Class of 1999 and TV series such as Strange World, CSI Miami, Dark Skies, The District or Max Headroom. These come from 1998 soundtracks for computer games such as Baldur 's Gate Baldur 's Gate 2, BioWare.

Style

Characteristic of Michael Hoenig music style of the early years are its long passages in the style of Tangerine Dream, he is thus attributed to the Berlin school. Later he composed electronic music at the height of the respective technical developments.
