Michael Hopfes

Michael Hopfes ( born February 11, 1976 in Wolfratshausen ) is a former German figure skater.

Biography

Michael Hopfes began at the age of nine with the figure skating. The Geretsrieder started on the prestigious Munich EV, his trainer was Karin Gaiser. In August 1998 he moved to Canada at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie (Ontario), where he trained at Douglas Leigh ( coach Takeshi Honda) and Robert Tebby. Nevertheless, he achieved his international breakthrough ever, mainly due to the competition of the 1994 exchanged to Germany Andrejs Vlascenko. After the end of his amateur career in 2000, he worked as a trainer in Ottobrunn, then in Germering, Bad Aibling, Augsburg and at the power center in Munich. 2006 emigrated Hopfes to Mexico, where he runs a private ice skating school in Naucalpan. In addition, he has worked as a Technical Specialist ( judges ) during competitions. He was a sports soldier of the Bundeswehr.
