Michael John Sheridan

Michael John Sheridan ( born March 4, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri) is a Roman Catholic bishop of Colorado Springs.

Life

Sheridan studied Catholic theology at St. Louis University High School and at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome, where Dr. theol it. received his doctorate. On May 29, 1971 Sheridan was ordained by Cardinal John Carberry priest. Afterwards he worked in pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

On July 8, 1997 Sheridan was appointed Titular Bishop of Thibiuca and Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis by Pope John Paul II. He received his episcopal consecration of Archbishop of Philadelphia Justin Francis Rigali, on 3 September of the same year; Co-consecrators were Edward Joseph O'Donnell, Bishop of Lafayette, and Edward Kenneth Braxton, Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis.

On December 4, 2001 Sheridan was appointed Coadjutor Bishop Richard Hanif in the Diocese of Colorado Springs in Colorado, whom he succeeded on 30 January 2003 as a bishop.
