Michael Konsel

Michael Konsel ( born March 6, 1962 in Vienna ) is a retired Austrian football player.

Club career

Through his grandfather, he came at the age of six years to 05 Fortuna, where he first began to play at left- decker. With about nine years, he then took the first time the position of the goalkeeper, the position he would have from now on for the rest of his football career. With 16 years Konsel moved to FC Kritzendorf, where he was the goalie fight team immediately.

In 1997 he moved to AS Roma in the Italian Serie A, where he was elected in his first season just the best goalie in the league. National team

In the Austrian National Team Konsel completed 43 matches and participated in two World Cup finals (1990 and 1998 Italy France). Besides his career he has been involved to date for the young goalkeeper in Austria and called 1995 with his friend and former teammate Alexander Elstner Vienna the " Michael Konsel goalie camps ", a football camp for children and young people, to life. As of March 2007, he took part in the third season of Dancing with the Stars. He retired in the fourth round with his partner Nicole Kuntner.
