Michael Madsen (ice hockey)

Michael Madsen (born 21 November 1980) is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since 2011 in SønderjyskE Ishockey in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen under contract. His father Bent Madsen was also a professional hockey player.

Playing career

Michael Madsen moved to his juniors time to North America, where he was a season long for the Bracebridge Bears in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association between the posts. 1997 Madsen returned to Denmark. There he played for five years in the top division, which still wore at that time the name Elite series, for the Vojens Lions and then moved on to league rivals Hvidovre. The Dane, however, still left the team during the current season 2002/ 03 towards Rungsted Cobras. From 2004 to 2007 was the goalkeeper for the Herlev Eagles, who bear the name Herlev Hornets since 2005, on the ice. This commitment was interrupted only by a brief appearance in the Champions round of the German Oberliga in 2006 as Madsen has signed a contract with the Heilbronner EC. Although graduated from the Dane for the Unterländer only a total of 15 games, but he was elected in February of the club supporters "Player of the Month".

In the 2006/07 season, the Dane was for Vaasan Sport in Mestis, the second highest Finnish league, between the posts. About the Rødovre Mighty Bulls, with whom he was in 2008 Cup Winners' Cup, the goalkeeper came to the 2008/09 season back to his former club from Hvidovre, who had changed his name to Totempo HvIK in the meantime. From the 2011/12 season he plays again for SønderjyskE Ishockey in the AL -Bank Ligaen.

Internationally

For Denmark Madsen took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior B Championship in 1998 and the U20 Junior B World Cup 2000. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the B World Cup 2002 and the A World Championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
