Michael Ryan McGlinchey ( born January 7, 1987 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand -Scottish footballer.

Club career

McGlinchey was born in 1987 in Wellington, New Zealand, his Scottish father played there from 1986 to 1988 soccer at Lower Hutt City. Just nine months after his birth the family moved back to Scotland, where he grew up in Glasgow. In 2005 he received at Celtic a professional contract and was on Boxing Day 2005 against Livingston his league debut. It should be the only duty stake for Celtic McGlincheys, in November 2007, he was awarded at Dunfermline Athletic in the First Division, returned to a groin injury but already in January 2008 back to Celtic back.

National

McGlinchey was eligible to play for the New Zealand and Scottish Association initially but opted for Scotland. He was at the U-19 European Championship 2006 on the service providers of the Scottish selection and stood in all five tournament games on the grid. In the finals, the first since 1982 for a Scottish selection in this age group, they lost Spain with 1:2. In the subsequent Junior World Championships 2007 in Canada McGlinchey came two appearances, failed the U-20 team but after three losses already in the group stage.

After the abolition of the age limit was adopted for a dressing change at the FIFA Congress in June 2009, McGlinchey received by the New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert again the offer aground future for his native country. He made his debut along with Rory Fallon in a friendly match against Jordan in the New Zealand national team and was released in October and November 2009 in the two play-off games of the World Cup qualifier against Bahrain are used, when the national team by a 1-0 home success for the first time since 1982, qualified again for the World Cup finals.
