Michael Mietke
Michael Mietke (* 1671, † 1729 ) was a North German harpsichord and harp maker. His sons, Michael (1702-1754) and Georg (1704-1770) were also instrument makers, as well as George's son Frederick ( 1746-1805 ).
Michael appears to have lived Mietke his life in Berlin; the latest from 1695 he built instruments. 1707 he followed Christoph Werner as Prussian purveyor. In 1719 he delivered on the recommendation of Johann Sebastian Bach harpsichord at the Köthen - perhaps the instrument that composed the 5th Brandenburg Concerto for Bach.
Three of the instruments Michael Mietkes are preserved. Two are at the Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin ( a single manual harpsichord, unsigned, formerly owned by Queen Sophie Charlotte, and a two-manual harpsichord, also this unsigned ), the third in Hälsingland Museum, Hudiksvall ( a single manual harpsichord, signed Berlin 1710).
