Michael Nava

Michael Nava ( born September 16, 1954 in Stockton, CA, USA) is an American lawyer and writer.

Life and work

Nava was born in the small town of Stockton in San Joaquin County near San Francisco and grew up in Sacramento. In 1981 he received his degree as a lawyer at Stanford University, where he had previously met his lifelong partner Bill Weinberger in the year. The two initially conducted a joint law firm in Palo Alto, until they moved their headquarters to Los Angeles in 1984.

In 1986 he published his first novel under the title The little death ( German: The little death). After seven volumes of the novel cycle was completed around gay lawyer Henry Rios in 2001. Nava practiced since 1995 in San Francisco. He is not only active as a lawyer, but also fights publicly for the recognition and equal rights for homosexuals in the United States.

For six of his novels Nava received the Lambda Mystery Award. All the novels were translated into German and published in the Hamburg Argumentenverlag.
