Michael champion (2012 )

Michael champion (born 19 January 1966 in Hall in Tirol ) is a retired Austrian football player and current coach of Bundesliga club Wacker Innsbruck.

Playing career

During his active career as a defender Michael champion played for SV Volders, FC Wacker Innsbruck FC Swarovski Tirol, FC Tirol Innsbruck, Austria Wien and WSG Wattens. The 20- times the U -21 team players of Austria celebrated its A- national team debut on 23 August 1989 against Iceland. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1990 in Italy, where he was part of all three group matches of the Austrians in use. In total, he completed 34 team games, where he managed a goal.

Career as a coach

After he had finished his active career, fighters took over in the summer of 2002, the coach of the SPG Wattens / Wacker in the Austrian Regional League West and attributed this success to the league title and thus into the Red Zac Erste Liga. Nevertheless fighter force was replaced after the season by Helmut.

For the season 2005/ 06 he took over the second division SC Rheindorf Altach and was able to celebrate with this his second ascent, this time in the Bundesliga.

On 24 April 2007, and the soldier of SC Rheindorf Altach have amicably separated. The reason were differences soldier of the player Leonardo da Silva. The club demanded of fighters to draw the Brazilians in the next game, as it should be observed by various clubs. Fighters had Leonardo however (as well as Froylan Ledezma ) imprisoned for disciplinary offenses from the Altacher squad and refused to move away from this measure.

On June 25, 2007 Michael fighters took over the post of coach of the amateur team of FC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull Juniors, which had reached with Thorsten Fink as coach promoted to the Red Zac Erste Liga.

On January 10, 2008 Michael fighter got the post of assistant Thorsten Fink as this moved to FC Ingolstadt. His successor as coach of Red Bull Juniors in Red Zac First League was Lars Søndergaard.

At the end of the 2008/09 season left champion Red Bull Salzburg, as he again wanted to " take responsibility " according to his own statement. In the summer of 2010, he took over at his home club, FC Raika Volders, in the national league west, the function as a coach. Although he completed the first pass at the first place, he left on October 26, 2010, Tyrolean, since he received an offer as manager of SV Horn (Regional East). In 2012 he succeeded with this club promotion to the First League, where he masterfully managed to avoid relegation to the low- Austrians. Since this reduced the budget in the 2013/14 season, fighters had to leave the club. This was presented on 27 December 2013 as the new coach of Wacker Innsbruck after Roland Kirchler had been dismissed because of persistent failures there.
