Michael Stuart

Michael Stuart ( born January 9, 1975 in New York City ) is an American salsa singer Puerto Rican descent.

Career

In the 1960s, the family of Michael Stuart from Puerto Rico to New York City emigrated. His first musical influences came from his uncle Israel " Timbalero " Stuart. Michael accompanied the band of his uncle frequently with maracas and congas. He also learned to play the trumpet and sang pieces of Héctor Lavoe and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. His singing style was strongly influenced by Domingo Quiñones. Michael Stuart was a time backing singer Johnny Rivera and Marc Anthony. In 1996, Stuart released his first album " Cuento de la Vecinidad " on which included a remake of Michael Jackson's " The Lady in My Life". In the Hispanic community of the United States, the album was a success and was the Farandula Magazine entitled " New Artist of the Year 1996-97 Award" and The Tropical New Artist Award 1997 of the Tu Musica Awards and from the Lo Nuestro Awards for " New Artist of the Year " award. In 1997, he sang along with Danny Rivera, José Feliciano and Chucho Avellanet in a production of the Banco Popular a tribute to Bobby Capo. In 1998 his second album Retratos, with whom he won the " New Salsa Artist Award " and the Paoli Award. In addition, Michael Stuart joined the Puerto Rican version of the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" in San Juan, along with Olga Tanon on. In the same year Michael Stuart met with Ricky Martin and Gilberto Santa Rosa on in a homage to the composer Rafael Hernández. 2000 the third album " Subeme el volume ". His title " Algo En Ella " was used as a soundtrack to the film Under Suspicion. In 2004, the album " Sin Miedo " was nominated for Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Tropical Album of the Year 2005. 2005 was Michael Stuart with the musical Homenajes in honor of the great salsa and rumba legends in the U.S., Latin America and Europe on tour. In his album "Back to da Barrio " from the 2006 Stuart also took up contemporary reggaeton tracks. His latest album Sentimiento de un Rumbero was released in 2007 under the label Machete Records. Michael Stuart remains committed to the music business and stage productions. In 2008 he took part in the beach Festival " Back to School ".
