Michael Thomas ( born March 8, 1988 in Olathe, Kansas) is an American football player.

Career

Thomas played from 2006 to 2009 in 83 games for the college team of University of Notre Dame. The season breaks spent the midfielder in the USL Premier Development League in Kansas City Brass and came up with over four seasons spread over 13 missions. In MLS SuperDraft 2010 he was drafted in the 2nd round in a total of 19 out of the San Jose Earthquakes, he decided, however, to pursue a career in Major League Soccer and went in early 2010 for a trial of the Swedish first division side Halmstad BK. Finally, where he received a short-term contract until the summer of 2010, where it meets with Ryan Miller on a previous teammates from college times.

At his pro debut he came on 22 March 2010, being the second match day, at a 0:6 away defeat against IF Elfsborg. In the following weeks he came to another four league appearances for Halmstad, the club decided in the summer, however, against a contract extension and instead paid the youth player Joakim Wrele with a professional contract. A short time later, Thomas signed at second division Ljungskile SK a contract until the end of the season. With Ljungskile SK he was in 47 league games on the field and scored eight goals.

In January 2012, Thomas returned to his homeland and signed a contract with Sporting Kansas City.
