Michel Wieviorka

Michel Wieviorka ( born 1946 ) is a French social scientist and racism and (youth) violence researchers.

Life

Michel Wieviorka is a leading figure in the French national research center CNRS in Paris. He is research director at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales ( EHESS ) in Paris and runs as a successor Alain Touraine, the Centre d'Analyse et sociologiques intervention. He is also the founder and editor in chief of the social science journal Le Monde des Débats. In 1989 he was awarded the Special Prize of the Premio Bulzoni Amalfi. He is also currently President of the International Sociological Association.
