Michelle Ryan
Michelle Claire Ryan ( born April 22, 1984 in Enfield, Middlesex ) is a British actress of Irish descent.
Life and career
Michelle Ryan was born in Enfield, Middlesex, and attended the Chace Community School. At the age of ten she was a member of the local theater group.
She was selected for its long-standing role of Zoe Slater on the popular soap opera EastEnders in 1999. In 2005, she announced plans to leave the show to concentrate on the film and theater games. Ryan later spoke before the also popular series Doctor Who, to replace the retiring Billie Piper as companion of the Doctor; but the role eventually went to Freema Agyeman. In 2006, she starred in the independent film Cashback and auditioned for the role of Vesper Lynd in the James Bond film Casino Royale before; but that role went to Eva Green. In June and July 2007, she was seen as Jekyll's assistant Katherine Reimer in the BBC miniseries Jekyll. Also in 2007, Ryan took over the lead role of Jamie Sommers in the short-lived NBC series Bionic Woman, a new adaptation of the famous series The seven- million-dollar woman from the 1970s. From September to December 2008, she starred in the BBC fantasy series Merlin in the supporting role of Nimueh. In 2009 broadcast Easter Special Planet of the Dead series Doctor Who, she took over the role of Lady Christina de Souza.
