Middenschouwen

Middenschouwen was a town in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It was formed on 1 January in 1961 by the union of the four municipalities Duivendijke, Elkerzee, Elle Meet and Kerkwerve. Seat of government was in Scharendijke. On January 1, 1997, it was merged with Brouwer Haven, Bruinisse, Duiveland Westerschouwen and Zierikzee to the new community Schouwen- Duiveland. One year before the dissolution, the community numbered 2706 inhabitants ( 1 January 1996).
