Westerschouwen

Westerschouwen was a town in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It was formed on 1 January in 1961 by the union of the five communities Pittsburgh, Haamstede, Noord wave, Renesse and Domburg. Seat of government was in Haamstede. A hamlet called Westenschouwen belonged to Pittsburgh.

On 1 January 1997, the municipality was merged with Westerschouwen Brouwer Haven, Bruinisse, Duiveland Middenschouwen and Zierikzee to the new community Schouwen- Duiveland. One year before the resolution Westerschouwen counted 6100 inhabitants ( 1 January 1996).
