Midnattsol

Midnattsol is a Norwegian- German folk metal band.

History

Was founded in 2002 by Carmen Elise Midnattsol Espenæs and Christian Hector. Shortly thereafter, Daniel Droste, Birgit Öllbrunner, Chris Merzinsky and Daniel Fischer were joined. In 2003 they released their first demo, through which the Austrian label Napalm Records became aware of the band, which led to a recording contract. The band's debut album was released under the name Where Twilight Dwells 2004. The album promotion was part of the "castle tour " rather than as support of In Extremo in the spring of 2005. 2005 were Midnattsol on among others the "Fire Dance Festival " Summer Breeze, Wave -Gotik-Treffen and at the Metal Female Voices Fest. In 2006, followed by appearances at the Mera Luna Festival, and another time at the Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium Wieze.

In September 2007, the recordings for the successor album Nordlys, which was released on 28 March 2008 began. Carmen Elise Espenæs

Carmen Elise Espenæs (* 1983 in Stavanger ) is the sister of Liv Kristine (formerly of Theatre of Tragedy, now frontwoman of Leaves' Eyes). Penetralia

Penetralia is the precursor band, later Midnattsol emerged from the. The band was founded in 1994 by Christopher Merzinsky and Daniel Droste.
