Taiyo no Uta (Japaneseタイヨウのうた, dt "Song of the Sun" ) is a Japanese Love drama from director Norihiro Koizumi from the year 2006. Singer Yui are in the movie her acting debut as Kaoru Amane, a 16 -year-old Girl suffers from the skin disease xeroderma pigmentosum. The film is internationally also known as A Song to the Sun or Midnight Sun. The film played in Japan over a billion yen.
Action
Kaoru Amane is a 16- year old girl who suffers from Xeroderma pigmentosum, a skin disease, because the they avoid sunlight during the day and must not leave the house. In contrast, she goes out at night to meet on the street her passion for singing and playing the guitar. In the morning before she goes to sleep she observed through her window a young surfer and his friends. One night she meets a boy named Koji Fujishiro know.
This takes them into another night in the city. There she plays on a large space and can gather a considerable audience in front of him. Later, both go to the beach, it is already light and Kaoru quickly runs home. It also learns Koji of Kaoru's cousin from her illness. Kaoru wants him for a while do not see her condition has worsened. Koji, meanwhile, has found a recording studio, which would publish Kaoru's songs. During a dinner he tells Kaoru of his plan for Kaoru's CD.
However, Kaoru's condition deteriorated, so that it can no longer play guitar. However, she still has her voice and takes the songs yet. Your family and friends will however leave the recording studio and wait for the CD.

Background
Taiyo no Uta is the directorial debut of Norihiro Koizumi. The role of Kaoru Amane and Yui's life overlap in places. All games played in the film songs, " Goodbye Days ," " It's Happy Line" and " Skyline" were written by Yui.
Xeroderma pigmentosum is a rare skin disease that still is more common in Japan than in other parts of the world. A 40,000 Japanese suffers from the disease.
Publication
The film was released in Japanese theaters on June 17, 2006. In addition, the music for the film on 14 June 2006 was released on CD (Good - bye days ) under the artist name Yui for Amane Kaoru ( YUI for雨 音 薫), which reached # 3 on the Oricon charts.
A month later, the station TBS began airing the TV series Taiyo no Uta with Erika Sawajiri in the lead role. The action of the series is the same as that of the film. The series music was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.
There is also a 2006 Manga published (ISBN 4592187539 ) by Kenji Bandō and tsunami Minatsuki.
2010, there was a South Korean musical adaptation of the substance, Midnight Sun ( 태양 의 노래, Taeyangui Norae ), with Taeyeon of Girls' Generation as Kaoru Amane.
Awards
Yui in 2007 was awarded for her role with the Japanese Academy Award for Best Young Actor.
