Miguel Gomes (director)

Miguel Gomes (born 1972 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese film director.

Career

Miguel Gomes completed his film studies from 1996 to 2000 in his hometown of Lisbon. His first short film he produced in 1999 under the title Entretanto ( " now "). At the International Short Film Festival Curtas Vila do Conde, he was awarded in the same year as the best Portuguese director. The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen 2000, he won the grand prize. By 2002 originated with Inventário de Natal ( " inventory for Christmas ," 2000), 31 (2001) and Kalkitos (2002) three more short films.

In 2004, he presented with A cara que Mereces ( " The face that belongs to you "), his first feature film and was nominated in 2006 for a Globo de Ouro. 2008 Aquele Querido Mes de Agosto appeared ( " That beloved month of August " ), with whom he won the Film Festival in São Paulo, Guadalajara, and Buenos Aires. 2009, the film was honored as the best Portuguese film with the Globo de Ouro.
