Mikael Salomon

Mikael Salomon ( born February 24, 1945 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is an American cinematographer, film director, film producer and Visual Effects Artist of Danish origin.

Biography

Born and raised in Denmark, Solomon began his work in Scandinavia and stood at around 50 films behind the camera, until he went to Hollywood in the mid-1980s. Initially working as a cameraman for Amblin Entertainment, he moved quickly to the director's chair and introduced in 1993 in both feature films and television series director.

Among his most famous works as a cameraman in 1990 produced horror film Arachnophobia and the only one year counts later, in 1991 staged action movie Backdraft - men who pass through the fire. In 1990, he was first nominated for an Oscar - Best in category Camera - nominated abyss of death - for his work on Abyss.

His second Oscar nomination was Salomon in 1992, for his first and only work in the field of visual effects. It was Backdraft, in which he served not only as a cameraman but also as a computer animator, and for the Solomon along with Allen Hall, Clay Pinney and Scott Farrar in the category Best Visual Effects was nominated.

In the field of directing is probably the action film Hard Rain 1998 produced the most famous work of Solomon, followed by work on TV series like Band of Brothers or Rome.

Mikael Salomon is married to the American assistant director Nancy Blewer since 22 January 2000. From a previous, already implemented in Denmark relationship originates daughter Katrine Salomon, which is a well-known television journalist in Denmark.
